Use agents

Agents are saved, reusable sets of instructions for a type of analysis you run often, such as valuing a property or analyzing a market. An agent tells RealAI what to analyze, how to approach it, and how to present the results. It can also include reference files.

Each time you run an agent, RealAI creates a new analysis using those instructions and the details you provide.

How agents work

  1. You choose an agent for your task. Use an agent curated by RealAI or one you've created or customized.
  2. You provide the details for each run. Enter the property, market, or other information the agent asks for, and attach any relevant documents.
  3. RealAI follows the agent's instructions to create an analysis. Depending on the agent, the results might include a memo, a populated Excel model, comps, or charts, maps, and tables. Once the analysis is ready, you can ask follow-up questions in the chat.

Types of agents

The Agents page organizes agents into tabs:

  • Curated by RealAI: Agents built by the RealAI team and available to everyone.
  • My agents: Agents you've created or copied from a curated agent. You can edit their instructions to fit your process.
  • Your organization's name: If you belong to an organization, a third tab named after it shows your team's agents.

Run an agent

  1. Select Agents in the left sidebar.
  2. Select the Curated by RealAI or My agents tab, or your organization's tab if you belong to one.
  3. Find the agent you want to use and select Start analysis. A new analysis opens with a form for that agent.
  4. Fill out the form. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*); the other fields are optional. Depending on the agent, you may also be asked to fill in What you want to know or attach documents. To attach a document, do one of the following:
    • Drag and drop a file.
    • Select browse to choose a file from your computer.
    • Select Attach from library to choose a file from your file library.
  5. Add any extra notes in the box at the bottom of the form.
  6. Select the arrow button to submit your answers.

The agent may take some time to finish. Results appear in the analysis when they're ready. You can then ask follow-up questions in the chat box, just like in any other analysis.

Create an agent

Define the task you want the agent to handle, then write instructions that explain:

  • What the agent should analyze
  • What data or documents it should use
  • What steps, calculations, or criteria it should follow
  • How it should present the results

You can also attach reference files for the agent to use across runs. Keep information that changes each time, such as a property address or market, separate from the reusable instructions.

To create an agent:

  1. Select Agents in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Create agent in the top-right corner.
  3. Enter a name for the agent in the Name field. You can't save the agent without one.
  4. Write the agent instructions. You can use Markdown for structure or select Steps in the top-right corner to enter instructions one step at a time.
  5. Select Create agent in the top-right corner to save the agent.
  6. To attach reference files, select Edit in the top-right corner, then select Files next to the instructions.
  7. Select Save changes in the top-right corner to save the attachments and any other updates.

Note: Edits are versioned, so you can restore a previous version at any time.

Automate an agent

  • Schedules: Run an agent on a schedule, such as weekdays at 8:00 AM. Each run is saved as an analysis, and you can have it emailed to you when it finishes. For steps, see Schedule an agent.
  • Email: Each agent has its own email address, shown on the agent's card on the My agents tab. Email the agent to start a run, and it replies by email.
